TECHNOLOGY ROADBLOCKS: FAQ
Why can’t you keep using FB live?
-All of my FB accounts have been flagged & blocked from going live for ‘repeated broadcasting of copyrighted music’.

Can’t you just make a new fake FB account?
-I tried (Stan Sphitness), and for some reason FB won’t let that account go live at all in any groups or as a personal status, perhaps because they have gotten much more strict with account creation since Blobfish’s birth, and Stan Sphitness hasn’t ‘proven itself’ as a real person yet.

Can’t you just type a disclaimer in the description that you don’t own the music?
- Unfortunately, that doesn’t make a difference.  Video & article with more details below:

But my other fitness studio has been doing this… why aren’t they getting blocked?
- I wish I knew!  I imagine they have been flying under the radar enough to not get flagged by FB as a heathen, so maybe they are slipping through the cracks?  Or, if it’s a big corporation, perhaps they have a different relationship with FB’s services that gives them more flexibility.

Can you mess with the music files just enough that the FB algorithms don’t recognize the songs?
Maybe??  But that would be one hell of a project just to give it a whirl, and I’m blocked from going live right now either way.

Why don’t you just borrow one of our account log-ins to go live?
Super grateful for those offers, but the thought of putting someone else’s account at risk makes me really uncomfortable, & I would prefer not to.  (even if those offering swear they don't care).

Could you make a music playlist ahead of time on Spotify & send it to us so we can all press play at the same time?
- Since I use a crossfading app for playlists, and stop to talk or grab water or tend to nosebleeds (lolol) without planning or warning, syncing would be rough.  Also, I edit a lot of our songs so they can keep the fun swear words without using any of the non-fun swear words, so those versions aren't available on Spotify.  Going full clean would be a lil' bit of a downer for those of us who like the dirrrty.  Haha.

Can’t you just buy rights to the music?
-  I looked into it!  And do plan to do so for my website regardless, but either way it would be $900-$1200 for the year which is beyond reach of my coronavirus budget.  But even if/when I do, that licensing might not apply to use on Facebook, and there is virtually no way to inform Facebook if I do have the rights.  See the comments on the article below:

Can’t you just get a live-streaming software for your website?
- This is what I’m working on, with plans to invest in a fitness software called “MindBody” who is in the process of implementing livestreaming to their platform for what (seems to be) a relatively affordable situation.  I am waiting: for that to get sorted, to see how well it works, & find out what the cost would be.  Otherwise, per my research so far, any of those currently-existing standalone softwares are running for $8,000 - $15,000 which is like... although your girl's smile may be worth $1million, her gross income is very much not.

Why don't you get a business loan?  It sounds like a worthwhile business investment!
- I don't want to make any significantly costly or longterm business decisions based on what Twerkout looks like during the pandemic.

Can’t we just use Zoom?

I have tried Zoom, and have learned that the audio is horrible for students if I don’t “Share My Computer Audio”, but that there is a pretty severe video lag (& then I can barely hear the music on my end) when I do.  Knowing that’s happening makes me too stressed to enjoy it, which usually results in a low-level “teaching energy” that doesn’t feel like me, doesn't represent what my whole brand is about, & mostly just bums me out.

Have you tried Twitch?
I gave it a whirl earlier this week, but since the wifi in my apartment is so atrocious, I wasn’t able to get beyond a loading screen on the recording or receiving end.  Will keep trying, but the outlook is a little grim at this time.

Have you tried Vimeo?
I looked into that too, and it’s another expensive monthly fee that isn’t doing it for my budget right now.  I will continue to look into these options as things progress.

In the end: I am working as quickly as possible to get things operating smoothly & will keep you all posted with any & all progress.
